The European Language Certificates — German examinations
telc offers a range of language examinations, including general, academic and profession-related German qualifications. The exact product and level matter more than the telc name alone.

Candidates whose university, employer or relevant authority accepts a specified telc qualification. A general German certificate and a profession-specific examination may serve different requirements.
Requirements, availability and accepted versions are set by the provider and receiving institution. Confirm the latest information directly before booking.
A requirement naming a university-oriented German certificate is more specific than a request for any certificate at a similar level. Similarly, a medical or nursing language assessment should not be selected solely because the candidate works in healthcare. Obtain the actual requirement from the receiving organisation and match it to the official telc catalogue. Keep the complete examination title in your notes, including any level combination or professional wording.
Once the product is confirmed, choose its official practice test and candidate information. Compare the tasks with your current skills and plan targeted study. Check with the examination centre how written and oral components are arranged for your session and what documents are required. A preparation course can support learning, but its attendance document is separate from a telc examination certificate. Track registration, examination completion and certificate receipt as distinct milestones.
A healthcare professional and a university applicant may both need German evidence but different telc products. Start from each recipient’s exact certificate title, not simply the word telc or the shared level. Verify whether the requirement concerns general, academic or profession-related language. Preparation and appointment selection should follow that choice, and a certificate for one purpose should not be presented as accepted for every other purpose.

If names differ across Latin and Cyrillic documents, resolve the spelling question through official support before booking. Keep passwords and one-time codes private; guidance should help you understand the form while you retain control of sensitive details.
Read the guideThe receiving institution determines which product and format it accepts. The provider determines current locations, appointment availability and delivery requirements. Confirm both before choosing a centre or online option. Check the local time, equipment and any access-arrangement process relevant to your booking. A location listed online does not guarantee a place on your preferred date.
Read the guideStart with the official candidate materials for the exact version you intend to take. Familiarise yourself with the published format and interface, then choose learning support separately if needed. Registration assistance is not tuition, a predicted score or access to live questions. Use legitimate resources and follow the provider’s exam-conduct rules.
Read the guideUse the provider’s official account and reporting guidance to access your result. Check separately how the receiving institution wants to receive it. Downloading a report is not always the same as completing submission. If you are considering a further attempt or a professional certification step, confirm current rules directly. An exam result does not itself guarantee admission or a credential.
